Hiccups is a unique baby and toddler boutique that I created to fill a void in the Washington DC Metro area baby market. Originally the business was built on my love to personalize items. Although I enjoyed art from a much earlier age, I started personalizing at 9-years-old for my friends and family. I loved personalizing anything from jewelry boxes to trashcans. Even my toothbrush had my name on it! I painted throughout elementary school and high school and worked during college at Tickled Pink and Blue, a local baby store which has since closed.

Upon graduation, I went off to work in advertising, my college major, but three years later found myself missing personalizing for children and decided to open up Hiccups! Originally, Hiccups was run from an old storage room where I painted and displayed only the hand-painted items and furniture offered at the time. Slowly, I added year-round gifts, clothing & accessories to boost sales & advertised a little bit in family and baby publications. Before I knew it, people were coming back to shop so often and sending in their friends and family.

The positive response was so overwhelming that I decided to expand the store into a full-service unique boutique! In addition to the personalized items that the business was originated on, Hiccups offers an array of unique baby gifts including: layette, unique clothing from all over the world (NB-4 toddler), monogrammed blankets, bedding & accessories, special occasion clothing, silver keepsakes, albums, hair bows, footwear, accessories & so much more!
